SIlverbeet Noodles

SilverBeet Noodles!? Today in Snap Crack and Pop, we used Silverbeet  puree with a range of gelling agents to create pasta like noodles. The agents we used were: Xanthum Gum Guar Gum Agar Agar Carageenan Gelatin WHY: To find out the best agent for making silverbeet soup thick. HOW: Put a agent and 1/2 a cup of soup in a saucepan and heated it up, then used a syringe to squirt it onto baking paper. END RESULT: As you will see with the pictures, ours did not work successfully. I think we did not heat it up enough and/or let it rest.  Pictures (may be broken)

Candy rock on a stick

Crystillisation   Today, we put sugar and water into a pot, boiled it up and created rock candy! What ?  We were learning the process, unlike last lesson where we caramelised sugar to make a syrup, are crystllizating sugar to make rock candy, which is basically sugar crystals on a stick. How? We put one cup of plain water into a pot, and boiled it. We then got wet popsicle sticks with sugar on them for the candy to stick. We put them on pegs and poured the mixture into the jar and put the sugar sticks in. We left them for 4 days to set. You can add food colouring and flavor for taste and looks. Why? To learn about crystillization. What did I learn? I learned that even sugar and water can create some delicious and cool looking things. I hope I get to do this again. Photos

From wet to dry [EXPERIMENT] Zach Adams

DRYING RED BULL Decide if it is real or fake. In the video it did look real but the ingredients were a bit random so I was skeptical. What was the outcome?  At the beginning, it was a bit fizzy but that was from the red bull. The red bull did not dry or even start to. The sugar and pepper clumped together which was weird. Was this what you expected? (Why/Why not) The experiement did look pretty real as there wasn't a chance to add a premade powder. So I guess I didn't expect what happened. Conclusion: The experiment was done like the video but got no results. Our group determined that it was fake. Experiment Conclusion
